The Village Pump Station is the second largest station on the Island. The station was constructed in 1979 and has not been upgraded since it’s installation. This pump station serves the commercial areas surrounding High School Road and as far north as the Coppertop commercial park. Currently, the pump station is operating at capacity with flows projected to increase with growth in the area. The pump station is proposed to be replaced in the approved City Capital Improvements Plan (CIP).

Sanitary sewer is a difficult operation to bypass during construction, and maintaining pump station operation during upgrades is critical. Based on these unique circumstances, the City chose to purchase a package pump station in order to facilitate the placement of a new station while simultaneously keeping the existing pump station in operation. The package pump station has have a long lead time and pre-purchasing equipment assures that the station will not conflict with construction timing and will provide a consistent station set-up within the City’s infrastructure.

The City solicited multiple pump suppliers to provide costs and design of a package station meeting the City's current station operation. After a competitive process based on technical specifications and in consideration of the unique nature of the equipment to be purchased, City staff recommends Whitney Equipment Company, Inc., in the amount of $198,482.07.
