In August 2017, the City was presented with an offer to acquire the Casey Street Water Company which is categorized as a Class B water system per the Kitsap Health District. The system currently serves eight homes on Casey Street and two on Ferncliff. There will be no cost to acquire the system; however, the City will be responsible for any costs associated with the transfer of ownership, i.e., administrative and/or legal fees.
The Utility Advisory Committee discussed this offer at their September 13, 2017, meeting and recommends that City staff move forward with the Casey Street Water System acquisition.
The City Council considered this acquisition at its November 14, 2017, meeting. At that meeting, the Council forwarded to the consent agenda for this meeting the acquisition of the Casey Street Water System, including authorizing the City Manager to complete the transaction by executing the documents necessary to effectuate the acquisition.
