DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND

In 2016, the City of Bainbridge Island conducted a competitive process to select a consultant to design an affordable housing project to be located on City-owned property, commonly known as the Suzuki Property. Olympic Property Group was the team selected as a result of the competitive process.

 

An environmental assessment was completed in early 2017, which was then used to revise the Olympic Property Group proposal. A revised proposal was submitted to the City Council in September 2017, and the City Council directed the City Manager to draft a proposed development agreement for City Council consideration.

 

During the last two months of 2017, the City Council reviewed a draft development management agreement. The agreement is intended to establish the terms and scope of services to be provided to the City by Olympic Property Group. At the December 12, 2017 meeting, the City Council provided input on the draft agreement, but no action was taken.

 

A presentation will be provided, which will give the Council more background as well as information about risks, costs, and options for moving forward. The Council is asked to discuss the proposed project and provide input for the City Manager.
