DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND

Upon completion of the recent improvements at Wardwell Road, a petition was submitted that was signed by area residents requesting that the City install speed humps on the road.

 

In response, the Public Works Department analyzed the situation and considered options and is suggesting other measures to be taken instead of the requested speed humps.

 

Options for traffic control that could be considered are:

 

  1. Approve the proposed actions in the PW memo including periodically deploying the electronic speed notification sign;
  2. Install speed humps at suggested locations;
  3. Install speed tables at suggested locations;
  4. Phased approach of traffic calming that is monitored. If monitoring data shows a problem, additional calming actions would be taken.


RECOMMENDED ACTION/MOTION

I move that the City Council approve the actions recommended by the Public Works Department to address speed and safety on Wardwell Road.
