Per a request by Councilmember Peltier, included for discussion and consideration by the City Council is the reestablishment of the City's Community Forestry Commission. Pursuant to resolutions (see attached) in 2001 (Resolution No. 2001-51) and 2003 (Resolution No. 2003-26), the Council established a Community Forestry Commission. The Commission has been inactive for several years and there is interest in possibly reestablishing it.
If the Council wishes to reestablish the Community Forestry Commission, it is recommended that the Council do so by ordinance, in a manner similar to the other committees and commissions that the Council has established for the City in recent years, such that establishment of the Commission and related matters (i.e., how established, powers) would be incorporated into the Bainbridge Island Municipal Code.
