| | | | | | | | DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND | As last discussed by the City Council at its June 26, 2018, meeting, this Core 40 Program work includes installation of six-foot (5’-paved) road shoulder improvements. Work on Miller Road is from Tolo Road to Peterson Hill Road. Work on Fletcher Bay Road is from High School Road to New Brooklyn Road. The City of Bainbridge Island Core 40 Program was developed in 2007 with the intent of creating a 40-mile integrated shoulder network for bicycles island-wide.
Bids were solicited through area newspapers and the City’s bids and awards listserv. The bid opening was held on June 22, 2018. The only bidder is Titan Earthwork in the amount of $1,376,058.78. See attached bid form for results.
Additional funds in the amount of $47,000.00 are needed for contingency funds and awarding the contract. Upon City Council approval, a proposed budget amendment will be included in the 2nd quarter budget reporting.
Staff has reviewed the bid documentation and contractor’s qualifications and recommends that the Council award this contract to Titan Earthwork.
